Vastu for East-Facing House

East-facing homes are among the most sought-after in Vastu because the east is the direction of the rising sun, associated with health, vitality and new beginnings. A home whose main door faces east receives beneficial morning light, which is considered energising and auspicious. This is why east-facing properties often command a premium — but the facing alone does not guarantee good Vastu; the entrance position and internal layout still decide the outcome.

The key is the exact position of the main door along the eastern wall. In Vastu the east is divided into padas, and the door is best placed in the auspicious eastern padas — Jayant (E3), associated with wealth and success, or Indra (E4), associated with popularity and support from authority. Placing the door in the wrong eastern pada can turn a favourable facing into a defect.

In an east-facing home, keep the north-east corner open, light and clutter-free, as it combines the benefits of both the north and the east. Place the pooja room and any water source towards the north-east, the kitchen in the south-east, and the master bedroom in the south-west. Living and dining areas suit the north and east, taking advantage of the morning light.

Avoid placing a toilet or heavy storage in the north-east, and keep the south-west grounded with heavier furniture. A common east-facing mistake is blocking the eastern light with tall boundary walls or heavy structures in the east — keep the east comparatively open.

An east-facing facing is a strong starting point, but the report that matters is the one that checks your specific door pada, kitchen, bedrooms and toilets together.
